Stories for Kids, Families & English Learners

Discover wholesome read-aloud stories organized into five simple listening levels for children, families, homeschoolers and English learners.

Stories are at the heart of Libraverio.

We read carefully chosen stories for children, families, homeschoolers, and English learners, from simple stories for beginning listeners to classics with richer vocabulary, longer sentences, and more complex ideas.

To make finding the right story easier, we organize our readings into five Libraverio Levels.

You don’t have to choose by age or grade.

Start wherever the stories feel comfortable. Listen, enjoy, and move up whenever you’re ready.

Level 1 Start

Simple stories. Clear language. A comfortable place to begin.

Start includes our most accessible stories for beginning English learners, young children, and anyone building confidence with simple spoken English.

Expect shorter stories, familiar words, straightforward sentences, repetition, and stories that are easier to follow by listening.

Good for:

  • Beginning English learners
  • Young listeners
  • Developing listening skills
  • Anyone who wants simple, clear spoken English

Level 2 Build

Build vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence through stories.

Build introduces more vocabulary and longer sentences while keeping the language accessible and the story easy to follow.

Listeners begin hearing a wider range of words, descriptions, conversations, and sentence patterns while still having plenty of context to help them understand what’s happening.

Good for:

  • Early English learners
  • Children ready for longer stories
  • Growing vocabulary
  • Building listening comprehension

Level 3 Grow

Richer stories for growing readers and listeners.

Grow brings in more detailed storytelling, broader vocabulary, longer passages, and ideas that require a little more attention.

These stories give developing English learners and confident young listeners a natural next step without turning listening into a lesson.

Good for:

  • Intermediate English learners
  • Independent young readers
  • Homeschool listening and reading
  • Building comprehension through context

Level 4 Read

Classic stories, richer language, and more complex ideas.

Read is for listeners who are comfortable following longer stories with more varied vocabulary, sentence structure, description, dialogue, and storytelling.

This is where more traditional literature and substantial classic stories can become part of the Libraverio library.

Good for:

  • Strong young readers
  • Upper-intermediate English learners
  • Families exploring classic literature
  • Homeschool literature and language study
  • Adults improving English through stories

Level 5 Master

Advanced language and stories worth thinking about.

Master contains our most linguistically challenging readings, with sophisticated vocabulary, complex sentences, deeper themes, older literary styles, and stories that may require more attention and experience.

These readings aren’t just for children. They’re also for advanced English learners, adults, teachers, homeschool families, and lifelong readers who enjoy great literature read aloud.

Good for:

  • Advanced English learners
  • Experienced readers and listeners
  • Older students and adults
  • Teachers and homeschoolers
  • Lifelong learners

Not Sure Where to Start?

The Libraverio Levels aren’t grades, ages, or labels.

A six-year-old native English speaker and a forty-year-old English learner may need completely different things from a story. That’s why we organize our learning content around the language challenge of the story, rather than the age or intelligence of the listener.

Start with a level that feels comfortable. If you understand almost everything without much effort, try the next level. If following the story becomes frustrating, move down one.

There’s no test to pass and no level you “should” be on.

The right level is the one that keeps you listening.

Stories Chosen With Care

A reading level tells you how challenging a story’s language may be. It doesn’t tell you whether that story is right for your family.

That’s a separate question, and it matters to us.

We look for good stories first: imagination, adventure, humor, wonder, memorable characters, beautiful language, and enduring qualities such as courage, kindness, honesty, responsibility, perseverance, friendship, family, faith, freedom, compassion, sacrifice, forgiveness, and respect for others.

We also recognize that classic stories can contain danger, sadness, conflict, loss, difficult choices and ideas from another time. Our goal isn’t to replace a parent’s judgment. It’s to make that judgment easier by choosing thoughtfully and telling you when we think there’s something you may want to know before listening.
